WHAT IS CASK BEER?
Traditional draft beer was stored in wooden casks (now most are stainless steel) and served directly from this vessel where they underwent a final fermentation stage to condition and carbonate. Cask beer is unfiltered, smoother and less carbonated than keg beer, gravity poured, and served at cellar temperature (around 55 degrees F). The result is a smooth alternative to force carbonated beers, and allows you to experience an old tradition, and unique flavors not otherwise noticed. Because cask beer is exposed to air during the tapping, it has a very short shelf life once tapped.
